Césaire in Context Colloquium

Scholars from around the country and abroad came together to discuss the renowned Martinican poet and politician, Aimé Césaire (1913-2008). The participants were drawn from a longer list of scholars, all of whom have contributed to a forthcoming collection, entitled “Césaire in Context,” which will be published by Cambridge University Press. It is edited by Dr. Anjali Prabhu and includes contributions and translations by her.

Jerry Pinto Author Visit

Author Jerry Pinto gave a short talk and conversation on “Translation: An Archipelago of Languages” on 11/13/23. The author also held a public lecture on 11/16/23, led by UCLA graduate students in COMLIT 290, on his novel The Education of Yuri.

Amitav Ghosh Author Visit

Dr. Anjali Prabhu moderated Amitav Gosh’s 5/17/23 public lecture titled “The Nutmeg’s Curse: Parables for a Planet in Crisis”. Amitav Gosh led a public discussion of his book Gun Island on 5/18/23.
